Dragon Ball Super Manga
Dragon Ball Super is a Japanese manga and sequel to the Dragon Ball manga by Toyotaro and overseen by Akira Toriyama. The manga began in June 2015, serialized in the monthly magazine V-Jump. The manga is also being released in English by Viz Media starting from 2017. A Dragon Ball Super anime is being produced alongside the manga.
Shueisha released the first volume of Dragon Ball Super in Japan on April 14, 2016. It included chapter 1 through 9. The second volume containing chapters 10 through 15 was released on December 2, 2016.
Viz will start publishing volumes in English starting in 2017.
The Dragon Ball Super manga picks up the story of Goku and his adventures following the defeat of Buu but prior to the final chapters involving the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament. While an adaptation of Toriyama's outline it has many storyline differences when compared to the movies and the Dragon Ball Super anime and follows it's own continuity.
Akira Toriyama writes plot outlines which Toyotarō uses as a basis for the stories and Toriyama personally helps put the manga together. Toyotarō creates the dialogue and illustrations, expanding, adding, and changing elements from Toriyama's plan as he deems appropriate. Akira Toriyama believes Toyotarō's freedom to change the story makes the final product better.Akira Toriyama also checks through all of Toyotarō's storyboards for the manga. To accomplish this, Toyotarō has his draft sent to Toriyama, who goes over it and then sends back parts that he drew himself with corrections to Toyotarō in order to get the final product perfect.
Akira Toriyama has a very positive view of Toyotarō's manga, noting that Toyotarō is always accurate when drawing the manga, unlike with the anime where he always has to ask for things to be fixed, and is grateful that Toyotarō is drawing the continuation of his story. He also believes that if the animators for the anime use Toyotarō's manga as a reference it will keep them on track.
Unlike the anime, the manga does not include an adaptation of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, likely in part due to it already having been partially adapted into manga form.

The story begins with a brief recap of Goku's victory over Buu. Since then, the world is once again at peace. Goku, due to imposition of Chi-Chi, is in a growing field with a tractor, while he recalls his fight against Kid Buu. At that time, Goten brings lunch to Goku and starts helping his father. Then, Goku closes his eyes, becomes Super Saiyan and imagines himself fighting and defeating Frieza and Cell. When ready to "attack" Kid Buu, his thoughts are interrupted by a shout from Goten, who was distracted by his father and almost fell down a ravine with the tractor.
Goku saves both and then Mr. Satan arrives after having received the Prize of World Peace. Satan offers the prize money to Goku, but Goku refuses because the human was also involved in the fight against Kid Buu. Goten tells his father that with the money, Chi-Chi would surely let him go training with King Kai and Goku accepts his part.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the universe, Beerus is on a planet with Whis and aliens are offering a banquet so the God of Destruction does not destroy their planet. However, the aliens poison the food with the intent to kill him, but it doesn't work. In the end, Beerus destroys the planet as he had said he would. However, one of the dishes ("Soup Yasai Jinkot", a pun with Super Saiyajin God) reminds him of the Super Saiyan God in a dream he had, so Whis and Beerus decide to return to his planet to remember more about that dream.
Meanwhile, on the Sacred World of the Kais, Kibito Kai and Old Kai are distressed by the God of Destruction.

Differences from anime
Goku does not have his mental battle with Frieza, Cell and Buu.
Beerus destroys the entire insectoid planet whereas in the anime he only destroys half the planet due to being mixed on the meal.
The appearance of the aliens that Beerus wipes out are different when compared to the anime with a more insectoid appearance.
Battle of Gods is the fourth chapter in the Dragon Ball Super manga.
Goku has an idea for Beerus to meet the Super Saiyan God. Goku tells Bulma to get the Dragon Balls ready so he could summon Shenron. Shenron is summoned and is asked how to create a Super Saiyan God. Shenron tells the group that six righteous Saiyans are needed to create a Saiyan God. There are only five Saiyans present on Earth but however, Videl reveals that she is pregnant, carrying hers and Gohan's quarter Saiyan child. The six perform the ritual pouring their energy into Goku. With success, Goku becomes a Super Saiyan God. Everyone is shocked at seeing Goku's appearance and Beerus is excited to start their battle. Goku is ready to fight too and says that if he wins, Earth gets to exist. Beerus replies and says that no one in the universe is stronger than he is. The two are prepared and ready to fight.
Goku begins by charging at Beerus but gets blocked. Goku expresses that he couldn't believe a world like that existed. Continuing their battle, Beerus is impressed by Goku. Goku and Beerus fly toward the city and fight there. After exchanging blows, Goku is adjusting to the form which is noted out by Beerus. The two clash again and fight their way toward the stratosphere in space. Their battle is causing the universe to shatter making planets explode.
With the Super Saiyan God being temporary and Goku's power is running out, Beerus decides to use a Sphere of Destruction. The launch of the Sphere of Destruction is heading in Goku's and Earth's direction. Goku however has more power to be able to fire a Kamehameha Wave and fire back at Beerus. The Super Saiyan God form has run out and Beerus is fascinated by Goku's efforts and decides to destroy Earth on his next visit. Beerus wishes Goku to reach new heights in power and reveals to him that there are twelve universes and he is the God of Destruction from the seventh universe, their current living world. He also mentions that Whis is not only his attendant but his master making him stronger than him. Beerus wishes Goku farewell and leaves with Whis.
Meanwhile, on the Sacred World of the Kais, Kibito Kai had been to New Namek and attained their Dragon Balls. Old Kai notices the Champa is on the other side of the universe and tells Kibito Kai to return them but Kibito Kai makes use of them and wishes to defuse becoming Supreme Kai and Kibito again. Old Kai thinks they wasted the power of the Potara, not putting it in use. After Beerus had left the scene, Old Kai wonders about the lasting peace of the universe.
Out in the universe, members of the Galactic Frieza Army finds a Dragon Ball that is bigger than normal. Guarana orders his soldiers to report the headquarters of the sighting of a Dragon Ball but they are blown up by Champa. At headquarters on Planet Frieza 17, Tagoma informs Sorbet that Guarana's ship has been blown up by an unidentified force, which shocks him and Shisami. Sorbet declares that there only choice from not suffering is to revive Frieza. Somewhere in space, Vados warns Champa of Beerus noticing his doings which Champa replies that they are heading and the next time him and Beerus meet, he will give him a souvenir.

Differences from anime
The battle between Goku and Beerus is much shorter, Goku does not revert to his Super Saiyan and Base state during the battle instead reverting to his Base state following the battle.
Supreme Kai and Kibito are shown to have diffused something that was not seen in the anime or known about until the Universe 6 saga.
Champa is shown to destroy one of the Galactic Frieza Armies spaceships, something he doesn't do in the anime.
Beerus and Champa is the fifth chapter of the Dragon Ball Super manga.
Sometime has passed since the battle with Golden Frieza, Goku and Vegeta continue training under Whis on Beerus' planet. Goku and Vegeta are sparring with each other. Vegeta begins to start losing to Goku because of his use of the Instant Transmission. Vegeta starts to get agitated, going with his flaw as a fighter and Whis picks up on this. Before Goku could knock down Vegeta, he turns Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan and uses a ki blast against him. Goku turns Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan too and him and Vegeta ramble to each using "Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan" repeatedly, causing Goku to bite his tongue. Goku complains about the name Vegeta gave the transformation and Whis suggests the name "Super Saiyan Blue". Whis reminds them that their fight was a "transformation restricted" one so he punishes them for it, giving them heavy-weighted suits.
Champa and Vados show up and Champa orders Whis to get Beerus, who is at the time asleep. As Whis takes off, Goku asks Champa a negative comment about his appearance, so Vados tells him that he is Beerus' twin brother and is the God of Destruction of Universe 6. Goku and Vegeta are shocked, so Goku asks which between the two are stronger. Vados makes a comment of their physiques giving away the answer, making Champa mad at her. She also tells them that she is Whis' sister and claims to be a little stronger than he is. Whis returns with Beerus and objects her claim. Vados then suggests they should fight to find out who is stronger.
Beerus and Champa have a ritual of having a food show-off when seeing each other. Beerus gives Champa Cup Ramen and Champa gives Beerus a boiled egg from a newly discovered bird. They both try each other's dishes. After Champa has tried the noodles, he asks of the origin of the food and Beerus responds with Earth. Champa immediately tells Vados to look for an Earth in their universe. Vegeta is confused and is told by Whis that there are twelve universes, and that universes whose numbers add up to the number "13" are twin universes. Vados finds their Earth and states that the humans are non-existent because of a "nonsense war". Champa gets mad that his universe isn't able of having delicate foods as the Earth of Universe 7, so he challenges Beerus to a face-off of their universes using five of their best warriors in one-on-one matches. Goku hearing this makes him even more excited.
Super Saiyan Blue
Goku (Base/Super Saiyan Blue) vs. Vegeta (Base/Super Saiyan Blue)
Differences from anime
The scene where Goku, Vegeta and Whis come up with the new name of Super Saiyan Blue was omitted in the anime aswell as Goku and Vegeta fighting.
The exchanging and eating of the food presented by Beerus and Champa happened outside whereas in the anime it had within Beerus' palace.
The origin of the name Super Saiyan Blue began with this chapter when the characters came up for a shorter name to replace Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan.
"The Winning Universe is Decided!" is the 13th chapter of the Dragon Ball Super manga.
Goku is fighting against Hit, who is using his Time-Skip technique to land blows on him. However, Goku is able to predict where Hit is going to appear, as Hit is barely able to dodge a blow from him. Goku says he finally caught Hit, as Hit says that was a fluke. Goku then says that he'll just do it again. Goku attacks, as Hit disappears, but Goku lands another blow on Hit, which surprises him, along with Champa and Vados. Hit asks how Goku does that, and Goku says that he just predicts where Hit will be in 0.1 seconds. Goku then says that Hit keeps his hands in his pockets to keep his coat down, in order to prevent his opponents from reading his movements with his legs. Piccolo says that Goku really can't help babbling on about his plans, as Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan. Hit denounces Goku for underestimating him, as Goku did not immediately transform into his "blue-haired form", and takes his hands out of his pockets. The two begin to fight a battle with immense speed, as Master Roshi says he cannot even follow them. Supreme Kai is surprised that Goku is able to constantly predict Hit's attacks. Champa is frustrated, as Vados calms him down, saying that while Hit's Time-Skip barely takes any stamina, Goku's constant predictions and fighting at high speeds will cause him to eventually deplete his own stamina. Beerus is frustrated that while Goku has the advantage in power, Hit is resorting to using "cheap tricks". Goku, realizing he is in trouble, further powers up, revealing the standard Super Saiyan God form, which shocks everyone, including the gods. Vegeta is flustered that even this late in the fight, Goku is still saving another transformation. Goten and Trunks discuss the "Super Saiyan Red" (dubbed by Goten) form being called "God".
Goku uses Super Saiyan God to fight Hit
Goku and Hit proceed to fight again, as Goku charges and Hit uses Time-Skip, however Goku clearly sees him and knocks him back. A surprised Hit wonders if he was only able to stop Goku for less than 0.1 seconds. Goku knocks him back again, and Hit is shocked to see that the Time-Skip is being countered so easily. Whis explains to Beerus that not only as Goku closed the power gap between him and Hit, but has grown stronger than him by a wide margin. When Vegeta transformed into a Super Saiyan Blue against Hit, he was not able to exert more than 1/10th of his usual strength, as he had already transformed and fought a few times prior, as the transformation consumes an immense amount of stamina. They deduce that Goku's current Super Saiyan God form is stronger than Vegeta's Super Saiyan Blue form when it was used, also being stronger than Hit. Hit, overhearing their conversation, is surprised. Goku then fires a Ki Blast, which Hit is unable to stop. Hit, realizing Goku is on a completely different level, assumes a stance and powers up. Everyone is surprised by this, and Whis and Vados explain that due to Hit's Time-Skip ability, he had no need to power up to his full power in any of his fights. Hit explains to Goku that due to not powering up in a long time, his body would be unable to handle it for a long period, saying that he can only use his Time-Skip technique one time, however that one time is all he will need.
While Goku is charging towards Hit, Hit prepares to stop him, but is surprised to see Goku transform into a Super Saiyan Blue and completely break his Time-Skip, knocking him away. Goku then proceeds to fire a Kamehameha, which Vados is surprised to see plow right through the barrier she created. Champa wonders where Hit is, and Goku sees that Hit barely dodged the attack. Huge winds are created due to the barrier being broken, and Champa quickly orders Vados to fix it. Hit compliments Goku's strength, and Goku explains that Hit is much stronger than this because Hit is an assassin and he is forced to hold himself back to avoid killing his opponent, which is against the rules. Goku offers to fight Hit again one day when there are no rules, and voluntarily jumps out of the ring, which surprises everyone. Hit is announced as the winner, and Beerus angrily yells at Goku. Goku reminds him that they still have Monaka, which causes Beerus to grow even more angry.
The tournament presenter announces the last match, Monaka vs. Hit, as Goku walks past Vegeta and Piccolo, with Vegeta asking what Goku is thinking. Goku asks Vegeta why he did not save his Super Saiyan Blue form, as he could have beaten Hit if he did, and asked why he used it against Cabba, who Vegeta could have beaten as a regular Super Saiyan. Vegeta answers saying that there was no way he could let Kyabe go, as a Saiyan, without whipping his spirit into shape first. Monaka, incredibly flustered and afraid, walks into the ring and confronts Hit. As the match begins, Beerus complains to himself on how screwed he is, and Hit notices him. A frightened Monaka lands a weak punch on Hit, who does not budge, but realizes that Monaka was actually an amateur, and launches himself out of the ring, surprising everyone. Champa and Beerus are the most surprised as Monaka and the Universe 7 team are declared the winners, while Goku is impressed by Monaka's strength. Hit thinks to himself that he and Goku are now even. Champa is angry at Hit for throwing the match, and Beerus yells at him to pay attention, revealing the appearance of the Omni-King.
Vegeta asks Whis who he is, and is shocked to hear that he rules over all 12 universes. The gods and the Kais greet the Omni-King, who was flustered to hear they put this event together themselves, but is impressed enough to announce that it should happen again, this time with all 12 universes in the mix. Goku says he is excited, and Beerus is shocked to see Goku addressing the Omni-King so casually. Beerus and Champa are greatly worried that Goku held his hand out to the Omni-King, but the Omni-King shakes Goku's hand, promising that the event will happen. The Omni-King then leaves. With that, the Super Dragon Balls are summoned, the wish with Super Shenron is granted, and the others return to Earth.

Differences from anime
In the manga, Goku uses his Super Saiyan form, then his Super Saiyan God form, followed by his Super Saiyan Blue form. In the anime, Goku jumps straight to his Super Saiyan Blue form.
The manga reveals Goku's ability to use the standard Super Saiyan God form without absorbing energy from others.
The Super Saiyan Blue: Kaio-ken technique is anime-only.
Hit never improves himself in the manga. Instead, he uses his Full Power (although he claims it only lasts for a minute), but his Time-Skip never improves to be longer than 0.1 seconds.
In the manga, the Time-Skip technique is revealed to be less effective on those with higher power levels than Hit.
In the manga, Hit's power is about equal to Super Saiyan Goku. Once Goku utilizes his Super Saiyan God and then Super Saiyan Blue forms, Hit's Time-Skip lasts a shorter duration (and then doesn't work at all) against him due to his power surpassing Hit's.
In the manga, Whis explains why Vegeta could not compete against Hit: his power output has fallen to less than 10% due to the subsequent uses of the Super Saiyan Blue form as its use consumes a lot of stamina.
"SOS from the Future" is the 14th chapter of the Dragon Ball Super manga.
In Future Trunks' timeline Trunks attempts to escape from Blacks clutches throughout the ruined West City. After narrowly avoiding a large explosion he is able to make it back to Mai. After telling Mai that his mother, Bulma was killed he shares a meal with her and tells Mai of his plan to go back to 17 years in the past to get help.
Back in the present at the Capsule Corporation, Goku and Vegeta spar while Jaco tells Bulma of the danger of messing with time. A hired tutor explains to Trunks, Pilaf, Shu and Mai about how time travel and parallel worlds work. Bulma asks Whis is his time reversing ability that he used to save Earth from Golden Frieza created another parallel universe to which he says no because he did not change the past only reset it.
In the future Trunks and Mai prepare ready for their trip to the Capsule Corp while he ponders on whether Black has now learned the ability to sense Chi, something that the Warriors of Earth specialize in. Back to the past once more Goku and Vegeta along with Beerus and Whis sit down to enjoy a meal and Goku asks what the deal is with Zeno and why Beerus is so scared of him. Whis explains that Zeno is the greatest in existence and that nothing stands above him and that he is able to decimate anything that he wishes including peoples, planets, galaxies and even universes. He explains that there used to be 18 universes before Zeno destroyed them.
Trunks and Mai head to the Capsule Corp taking a quiet route through the sewers to remain out of sight. After emerging from the sewers they find Black awaiting them on a nearby building. They run into the building only for Black to quickly find them with Trunks confirming that Black can indeed now sense Chi. Trunks attempts to hold Black back while Mai makes a break for the Time Machine but proves to be helpless. Mai steps in firing shots at Black telling Trunks that he is the one who needs to survive. Black retaliates with a blast that appears to kill Mai. Black steps out of the shadows to tell Trunks that he is next revealing that he has the same appearance as Goku.
